The September Bike Friendly Meeting is tomorrow afternoon at 2pm on the front porch of the Pub in McKinney, off the square at 204 W. Virginia St. We will be talking about the parking lot promotion project and other projects focused on educating riders and drivers around the city.
One of the other things we need to talk about is the transition across 75, which is one of the biggest issues to bike traffic, whether you’re a commuter or a weekend kid getting to the soccer fields. The two paths that will be available after the 75 upgrade are Virginia and Parkview. Virginia will remain pretty inhospitable to bike traffic after the upgrade, since bike traffic improvements were not part of the effort for TXDOT. Parkview will improve, but the off-street path will remain with the funky back and forth sidewalk thing it has currently. The city doesn’t have a good solution to this yet, so we’ll want to talk about what we – the bike folks – think might be a good solution.
So if you’re able to come tomorrow, please bring your ideas with you!
